The Atlanta Contemporary Art Center - Comprehensive Master Plan and Conceptual Design
Master Planning
As our world continues to expand and become more inter-connected, resource-constrained and competitive, master planning will continue to play a vital role in preparing our clients for the future.
Our master plan strategies provide a thorough and comprehensive look at where an organization is in today’s world and what it will take to make its optimal future a reality. Our process is a highly collaborative one and involves experts from our clients’ worlds and ours - from planners, strategists and designers to engineers and community representatives. The creative results from this process culminate into tangible ideas and outline a flexible framework for long-term sustainable growth and development.
our master planning expertise includes the following three core areas:

Conceptual Design
our favorite part of the process
We love this phase of the process because it is where we personally get to know our clients and develop an understanding of their needs. We roll up our sleeves and brainstorm together. It’s fun and it’s messy. Sketch paper, colored pencils, large markers, finishes, materials and 3-d models crowd the table during our work sessions. We conduct initial brainstorming sessions that establish definitive goals for the project. Once the pragmatics are defined, including key program and functional needs, budget parameters and schedule implications, spatial desires are discussed and opportunities for innovation.
We greatly value our clients’ ideas and enjoy a high level of collaboration during the process.
Architectural Design
from concept to concrete
Translating our clients’ concepts into brick and mortar is where the rubber meets the road. During this critical phase we define how every aspect of the design is to be realized. We work closely with the contractor/construction manager during this phase to make sure that what we are documenting aligns with the construction methodology and approach. Technology and innovation are often at the forefront of our discussions and help guide decisions throughout the conceptual and architectural design phases of the project. Conversations highlight the best ideas and enlighten our thinking as concepts become refined, delineated and ultimately formulate into concrete. Our construction administrative and oversight services help ensure that the end result meets, and/or exceeds, our clients’ goals and expectations.
